Christian Buhl, technical director of Battlefield 6, confirmed that one of the game’s development priorities was ensuring good performance on lower-spec PCs, to enable a greater number of players to experience the game.
Buhl explained that the development team worked extensively on modifying the maps and improving their performance to ensure a smooth experience on both low- and high-spec devices. He added, “We tested a wide range of builds to appeal to the largest possible audience on PC.”
These efforts were part of the reason for the open beta’s success, as Buhl noted that a large percentage of players played on lower-spec devices, and some even on older or less capable devices.
To ensure better performance on various devices, the studios decided not to support ray tracing at launch and focus on improving performance.
We remind you that Battlefield 6 will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 10, 2025.
