There’s no doubt that Hollow Knight: Silksong is the GTA of indie games. Since Team Cherry announced its official release date of September 4, 2025, eight indie games have decided to postpone their release to avoid direct competition with the highly anticipated Metroidvania.
Most prominent postponed games:
- Demonschool
- Stomp and the Sword of Miracles
- Baby Steps
- CloverPit
- Megabonk
- Aeterna Lucis
- Little Witch in the Woods (version 1.0)
- Faeland (version 1.0)
Although everyone knows that Silksong could pose a threat to AAA games, some indie game developers feel that simply being a “victim of Silksong” could give their game an unexpected boost in publicity.
